As the baby boom generation enters its retirement years, developers see a market among seniors who want to ditch the hassles of home ownership but are still willing to pay a premium price for their abode.

Perhaps more importantly, the developers are aiming at a market that doesn’t want to be bothered with mowing the yard or mulching the flower beds. “I think there is a growing … interest in condominiums,” Howard said. “I think people — particularly kind of the market segment that we’re targeting, people downsizing or moving out of larger single-family homes — don’t really look as much at another single-family home.”

Cool amenities include sound-system control panels (pictured below) that let owners adjust their I-Pod, television or stereo from rooms throughout the house; open, covered or screened porches in the back; and the ability to open the community's gates remotely, using a cell phone. (Handy if you're out of town, but want to let someone in.)

Despite the overcast and rainy start to the day, the Grand Opening of the Clubhouse and Pool was a huge success at Harrison Woods and Acadia Villas.  People from all over the area (as far as Arizona) drove out to see our community.  Many of the local homeowners came by to get a first look at the community clubhouse and an opportunity to win a $250 Gas Card--Acadia Villas residents Bill and Cathy Novack were the lucky winners.

Centrally located, the clubhouse offers an inviting and spacious room to catch up or play Bunco (as suggested by one of the families in the community).  The overwhelming response of the community was an excitement to the unveiling of their new recreational home.

As The Enclave nears completion, Holrob Residential builder, Hunter Purnell, walked through the home pointing out key features of the model home The Bentley, which will be open for tour June 8, 2008.  The model has a Niles Audio Multizone audio system prewired and installed.

Through this small control, one of which is located in the Dining, Kitchen, Main Room, and Master Bedroom, the homeowner is able to select a sound source (Tuner, Cable, CD, or iPod) and select the adjust the volume to the desired level.

These small, built-in speakers in the ceiling, allow you to entertain guests to the mild notes of Chopin or rock out with Jimi Hendrix--depending on the mood. You can roam through the house without missing a line from the movie, or you can catch the morning news as you brush your teeth.

The best part of this sound system is that it is easy, really easy to use.

The Enclave is nearing completion, so I wanted to bring you a few pictures from the exteriors of these wonderful homes. These expertly finished homes, with main-level master bedrooms and maintenance-free lawns, provide a serene escape from the large homes in nearby Sequoyah Hills and Westmoreland.

Our contractor sent me this update on The Enclave today:

Last week we began cutting our house seats out for our first four units in the Enclave.   Unit 1 will be our Bentley model fully furnished and unit 2 will be framed and available for purchase.  Our larger units are being built on Unit 5 which is a fully furnished Cantebury. Unit 6 will be framed available to be purchased and finished to the buyer's desires.  The roads are being paved as we speak and next week we will begin work on our stoned entrance wall followed by our gates and gatehouse and landscaping. 

In two weeks or so, we will begin to hydro-seed the hill side and will planting in the winter.
